Pyramid Demo - A few additional thoughts
Infogenix has extensive experience working with entertainers and the music industry, including of course Donny Osmond. While discussing with Donny the announcements concerning Pyramid, we brainstormed the idea of an online game for marketing exposure. Online flash games and demos garner incredible attention and popularity on the Internet, particularly when highlighted by Macromedia in the "Shocked Site of the Day". One of the pioneers of an online game that promoted their CD version was the pop-culture "You Don't Know Jack".
We created the quick demo you saw to give a flavor of the quality and display of the game that could be created. Of course, the final product would be subject to whatever direction Sony Television would like to take the game. Here are a few ideas within the vision we started to create for the game.
- Create a game format that is updated weekly with new celebrities and questions
- Give advantages to people that have watched the show recently (in questions or hints)
- Players would be able to pick a celebrity to play with and would follow a modified format for single player format
- Winners of the game each week are entered into some sort of drawing (to attend the show, or simliar)
- Always promote the show and encourage people to watch
The online game would provide a wide variety of benefits in general marketing, plus many others beyond what traditional marketing efforts can offer. Some ideas we came up with are listed below.
- Increased exposure - Creating an online games opens you up to being "featured" on flash oriented news sites.
- Word of mouth marketing - Viral marketing is alive and well on the Internet. Games and other online "eye candy" create incredible response as people pass the word to their friends about the cool site they just saw.
- Mailing list of fans - Playing the game should require an online registration that generates a mailing list of show watchers.
- Reminder to watch the show - Your mailing list can be used to remind fans when new online games are available, and also to watch the show regularly. These fans can also be "mobilized" to contact local stations in areas where the show isn't aired.
- Contests - For winners of the games, and also just for being on the mailing list, you can offer contests and other promotions to generate excitement and interest.
- Collect Demographic Information - Initially and each time people play the game you can collect demographic information on your participants/viewers. Very valuable data
The list goes on, of course, but hopefully this peaks your interest as to how an online game can provide incredible benefits for Pyramid.
Contact us. We would love to discuss further how Infogenix can make an online promotion a huge benefit for Pyramid.
